AJ Michalka was born in Torrance, the state of California. Her mother Carrie, also a musician, inspired her to take up the profession of musician. AJ Michalka was raised in Torrance, California. Her mother Carrie was a gifted musician. AJ was a resident for the majority of her growing up years at home in Torrance, Seattle, and Milwaukee.
